SOG veteran Wilson Hunt, General Jack Singlaub (former Chief SOG)

SOG recon teams were a composite of Green Berets and indigenous members—originally South Vietnamese or Chinese Nungs.
By late 1966, FOB-2 teams began using men from local Montagnard villages, as was the case with RT Maine, seen here in June 1968.
In the back row (
left to right) are: Hit, Jeng, Sergeant First Class Wilson Hunt (one-zero), rifleman Chek, Zero-Two Hihn, grenadier Wung, and Staff Sergeant David Warrum (one-two).

Kneeling (left to right) are: Staff Sergeant Roger Loe (one-one), Y-Yaur, grenadier Munh,
and an interpreter Hunt soon removed from the team. Seated
in front is Zero-One Kiep, the indigenous team leader.

In this photo taken August 24, 1969, by Green Beret Mike Buckland,
his Recon Team Maine is under fire at an LZ in Laos as Cobra gunship rockets pound the jungle around them.
Kiep, one of the team’s long-standing Montagnards, is seen in the foreground, crouching behind stacked rucksacks.
